I think I’ve found my calling: Nature Photography

21 Apr

I think one of the reasons I don’t get good pictures of people is because I’m awkward. I’m not a goof, I don’t break out of my comfort zone so I can’t really expect someone to break out of his/her’s. So, it’s no surprise that what I’m addicted to or in love with is taking pictures of “things” instead of “people,” more specifically, nature type things. Like flowers. Macro photography, if you will, where what is important to the photo is the only thing in the photo. The background is unobtrusive; blurred out because of a low aperture. So, this week’s assignment for my digital photography class is nature and I totally had the greatest time shooting. These are probably the pictures I am most proud of the whole semester. Here are a few of my favorites:

Hate those bugs.

Hate spiders, too!

Doesn’t this look like a water painting? I love it!

This one is probably my favorite.

The color on these flowers is so pretty. Which reminds me, photoshop kind of sucks for autotone/autocolor on flower pictures. It totally takes the pretty colors away! So I avoided it at all costs.

Hope you enjoyed!

Just a reminder: South Jersey Photography Meeting!

5 Apr

Hey guys,

I just wanted to remind you all that South Jersey Photography & Art Society is having their monthly meeting tomorrow, April 6th, at 7pm. Location is only disclosed to members so if you are interested in going, become a member on their site.

Here is a brief summary provided by their website on the topic of their meeting:

Close-up and Macro Photography: This lecture will provide insights into making digital photographs of flowers, still life compositions, or any type of small object. It will include an illustrated slide show and discussion on the necessary equipment, creative use of aperture and how that affects the final image, tips on how to set up a successful composition, get a good exposure and use of flash and light shaping accessories.

There is a $5 member fee to attend the meeting. I’d love to go but I will be in Atlanta for the ATTW conference – yay!
